Buttocks Shaping
Purpose of the Procedure
Shaping of the buttocks can include augmentation with implants or fat injection, liposuction, and surgical lifting or contouring. The goal of this surgery is to improve the appearance of the buttocks by modifying the various elements of the individual buttocks.
By changing the three dimensional character of the buttocks one may obtain a more youthful and pleasing look to this critical body part thereby increasing the individual’s self-esteem and confidence.
Description of the Procedure
This surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia depending on the extent of the procedure. All surgery is done at Dr. Payne’s MediCare and California State Certified Pueblo Nuevo Surgery Center located within his office.
Some patients require additional volume to their buttocks in order to provide proper size and improve shape. This can be achieved using implants inserted through an incision in the upper buttocks cleft. Fat can be liposuctioned from other body areas (tummy or legs are good donor sources), processed, and then injected into the buttocks for the same purpose. The incisions used for fat injection are tiny with minimal residual scars.
Buttocks lifting is done using incisions at the top of the buttocks or across the lower back. Drooping skin in the lower part of the buttock or upper thigh can be removed with incisions which are mostly hidden in the lower buttocks crease.
Although no reliable treatment currently exists to treat cellulite sometimes women have large dimples and other contour abnormalities on the buttocks which can be improved with a variety of methods including the above treatments.
Results
The goal of cosmetic surgery is to make people look better. The results are rarely perfect and patients should not expect perfect outcomes. Fat injection treatment of the buttocks may need to be done more than one time. Implants placed into the buttocks helps to fill, shape, and lift drooping or atrophic butts. Lifting procedures leave scars on or near the buttocks although these do fade with the passage of time.
Dr. Payne performs a comprehensive evaluation of each patient. He then discusses what each person’s potential treatment plan may include. He discusses the pros and cons of all relevant corrective options both surgical and non-surgical. Each client then chooses the treatment which appeals to them with the understanding that more options may be exercised in the future.
Recovery
Each patient is given detailed written postoperative instructions regarding surgery as well as appropriate medications. The postoperative experience is discussed in detail with each patient ahead of time so that the patient is prepared for the after-surgery experience. Dr. Payne usually calls each patient the evening of surgery and again the morning after to review all instructions with the caregivers and make sure each patient is being managed appropriately. Most patients can go back to work in a week or two after treatment. Bruising and swelling lasts a few weeks. By 4–6 weeks the majority of clients are back to normal in terms of appearance and activity. Patients are seen one to two times per week for the first few weeks until judged to be doing well. Dr. Payne follows all patients until they are fully healed and recovered. Patients may resume light exercise within a few days of treatment and then progress from there. Support garments are recommended for 3–6 weeks following surgery.

The cost of the consultation is $100 and will be applied to any surgical procedure that you have. Once you have had your consultation with Dr. Payne the final details of the operative game plan will be made. At that point you will be given a final fee quote.
