Lip Augmentation
Purpose of Procedure
The goal of lip augmentation is to improve the size and shape of the lips. By enhancing the curves and contours of the lips a more youthful and attractive appearance can be created. The results can be stunning.
Brief Description of the Procedure
This enhancement is performed in Dr. Payne’s office under local anesthesia in our Laser and Skin Care Center treatment suite.
Local anesthetics are administered to help numb the areas being treated. Our team of Registered Nurses are kind, knowledgeable, and very experienced at doing this. There are a variety of options for injecting facial structures including restylane, juvederm, perlane, sculptra, collagen, radiesse, and fat. We advise each client what we think would work best for them providing as many options as is appropriate.
There are multiple choices for treatment of the lips and these will be discussed with each client. Treatment goals are customized to fit each patient’s preferences. Lip enhancement can be subtle and natural or more full and sensuous. Lines around the lips can also be smoothed. Depressions can be filled in and smile lines camouflaged. Skin color and texture can be modified as well.
Lip augmentation can be combined with other cosmetic maneuvers for enhancing the appearance of the lips and mouth such as injection of botox, laser skin resurfacing, application of chemical peels, broad band light therapy, and use of other techniques.
Likely Outcome and Longevity
There is no question that a fresh, youthful pair of lips and mouth is a beautiful sight to behold. Lip augmentation is very popular and for good reason. Fuller lips project an aura of sexiness and energy. Lipstick and gloss simply look better after lips are enhanced.
The longevity of lip augmentation varies according to the individual and the method used. Most lip augmentation being done today is temporary and will last 6 months or so. Repeat injection can offer longer lasting results. Although there are permanent long term lip filling agents and materials available they are not considered to be ideal and Dr. Payne feels the temporary filling agents are the best option at this point in time for most clients.
Recovery Issues
Lip augmentation is a straightforward procedure with a fast recovery. Most patients experience some bruising and swelling following injection but this is usually gone in a day or two. There is minimal pain afterwards and usually no special medication is required after completion of the procedure.
Pre and post treatment instructions are given to each client. Our Laser and Skin Care nurses are available after treatment for any questions or issues.
Cost
